Image Guided Radiotherapy

A specialised form of radiotherapy, where gold seed markers are inserted into the tumour, which may be mobile during treatment.

The tumour can then be tracked by the treating team of radiation therapists during the treatment by following the markers.

With better visualisation of the target, the radiation beams can be more accurately directed.

This leads to better outcomes by increasing the radiotherapy dose to the target.

It also leads to reduced side effects by reducing the radiotherapy dose to normal organs which are close to the target.
